Alpe d’Huez print in a natural frame

Isère, France

ALPE D'HUEZ

The Dutch call it their mountain, and the record backs them up: Dutch riders won eight of the first fourteen summit finishes here. From Le Bourg-d'Oisans the road kicks up straight away, then 21 numbered hairpins count down from 21 at the bottom to 1 at the resort. Each bend carries a sign with the names of stage winners from the biggest race in cycling, and each one gives you a few seconds to breathe before the next straight bites again. Bend 7, by the church of Saint-Ferréol, is the famous Dutch Corner. Made for anyone who has counted those bends on the way up.
